PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, is a battle royale game playable on a slew of different devices. From Microsoft Windows to the android version and almost everything in between you can enjoy this game that, along with Fortnite, helped build the battle royale genre. Unfortunately, if you want to play it on the PC, you still have to pay for the game IF you buy the PC version, that is. You can play pubg mobile on pc using an emulator if you want to play on pc for free.
If you’re playing on the mobile version of PUBG, you can download and play it for free because they have a different stream of revenue. Like any free mobile game, PUBG still has to make money, and they do this in the form of crate boxes. These crates are also purchasable for PC players as well. What exactly are these crates? Let’s take a look at a comprehensive guide on PUBG crates.
What PUBG Crates Are There? Are There Any New Crates?
There are a number of crates that were available before like the Pioneer Crate or Gamescom Invitational Crate. These crates are still available for purchase through the Steam marketplace, but they cannot be obtained through its original method anymore.
The Gamescom Invitational crate was only available in 2017 that had sets that included the school shirt or tracksuit top and pants. The Twitch Prime crates were also a special set of crates when players used their Twitch Prime accounts during the specified months. Unfortunately, these crates, like the Jungle and Gunslinger crates, are no longer available, but what crates are available in PUBG?
The list of crates that you can get right now is the survivor, desperado, biker, militia, fever, aviator, equinox, raider, triumph, and wanderer crate. The triumph crate itself is new. Of course, you can purchase these through the steam community marketplace with real-life money, but let’s take a look at how you can get these crates.
How To Get Crates In PUBG?
In order to purchase crates, you would need to do one of two things. The first and most obvious option is you would have to play the game. You would need to earn battle points just by playing the game. Of course, you won’t get a lot of battle points just for participating in the game and dying right away. Your performance matters a great deal in order to earn battle points.
Battle points are calculated by how many players you defeated, how long you lasted during the match, and the amount of damage you did. Getting battle points quick means, you’ll have to go out and hunt other players instead of trying to survive as long as you can. It’s one of the fastest ways to farm battle points if your goal is to farm crates.
The reason why you’ll want to farm battle points is that:
while the first crate is only 700 battle points, it increases in cost until the weekly reset. Unfortunately, you can only get six crates a week. This keeps the market from getting too oversaturated. The sixth crate will be a hefty 7,000 battle points.
You don’t get to choose which crate that you get. If you get a crate that needs a key to open, then you’ll need to spend $2.50 for a key to open it. That means you can either ignore it or sell it on the marketplace. However, not all crates need keys to open.
The list of crates that have keys attached to them is the fever crate, aviator crate, raider crate, and desperado crate. The crates without the $2.50 keys are the wanderer crate, the survivor crate, the biker crate, the triumph crate, the equinox crate, the militia crate.
The drop rates vary between crates. For example, the survivor, wanderer, desperado, and fever crates only have a 10% drop rate while the others (including the new triumph crate) has a 20% drop rate.
How To Sell PUBG Crates?
You’re eventually going to have a stack of crates that you can’t open or that you don’t particularly need or want. However, that doesn’t mean that other people don’t want to get a rare item or cosmetic skin.
First, you would need to have a Steam account. In order to sell crates on Steam, you would need to open the client and go to the community tab. Once you’re there you want to find the market place, choose your crates, and sell it.
You don’t have to open crates at all to enjoy PUBG. However, if you want to stock up on rare weapon skins or cosmetics, then you’ll want to play around with the crate system. You don’t have to spend real-life money in order to get crates, but you will have to play the game for a considerable amount of time to grind battle points.
Imagine needing 7,000 battle points, but you only get 20 BP for killing a player while soloing. If you’re in a squad, then you’ll only get 10. You also get one battle point for every five points of damage that you do. It all adds up in the end if you’re a good player, but even a solo battle will earn you about 800 battle points. That means you’re going to be playing a lot of PUBG.
Whether your goal is to earn crates to sell for real-life money or to use for yourself, you’re going to have to play the game, but this money helps the company continue giving you content that you enjoy and earn from.
